FLASHBACK FRIDAY more like frightnight & FILL INs

Fashion memories.
Oh, great.  More ways to confirm JUST HOW REALLY OLD I AM in this world of young, skinny ladies.
What fashions were popular?
LARGE BELL-BOTTOMED BLUE JEANS WERE THE THING WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL.  TRIM AND FIT THROUGH THE THIGH BUT THEN HUGE ANGLES FROM THE KNEE DOWN...MY CALVES USED TO GET CAUGHT UP IN THE FABRIC OF 'THE BELLS' AS I WOULD WALK.

What did you beg to wear?  HALTER TOPS WERE IN...AND I BEGGED.  MOTHER WAS NOT ABOUT TO LET ME WEAR THEM TO SCHOOL.  'EVERYONE' ELSE DID.  SHE WON THE BATTLE.

AFTER WINNING THE BATTLE, SHE STILL MADE ME A FEW--I COULD ONLY WEAR THEM AT HOME.  (I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO WEAR THEM IN PUBLIC...OVER MY BATHING SUIT TOP DURING BAND CAMP, IN THE HEAT, IN THE SUN, WHILE WE SWEATED LIKE BANSHEES...SUCH A WONDERFULLY PLEASANT MEMORY.)

What style did you happily embrace but now look back while thinking, "Ugh, Whatever possessed me to wear that?"  PLATFORM, LEATHER SANDALS...I CAN'T COUNT THE NUMBER OF TIMES I TIPPED OVER IN THEM, FELL OFF OF THEM, NEARLY BROKE MY NECK IN THEM.  YES, THEY WERE UGLY, U.G.L.Y.  LEATHER STRAPS CROSSED OVER THE TOE, BUCKLED AROUND THE ANKLE...IN A LIGHT BEIGE COLOR, SO  GROSS!   HOW DID I NOT BREAK MY NECK?  I CLUNKED AROUND IN THEM MY JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEARS.
Have any of these come back into style?  MY SHOES ARE IN STYLE NOW.  SOME OF THE SAME LARGE BELL BOTTOMS  HAVE COME BACK, TOO...YOU KNOW, WE WORE 'JELLIES' FIRST :)  SEVERAL OF THE GIRLS IN OUR YOUTH GROUP WORE THEIR 'NEW' JELLIES TO CHURCH LAST WEEK...IT MADE ME SMILE.

What have you worn that you vowed you never would? A MINK STOLE TO A 'VERY' FORMAL GEORGIA TECH GATHERING AT THE ATLANTA PIEDMONT DRIVING CLUB WAS MY FASHION FAUX PAS...MY FASHION FALSE STEP.  NO, NOT A FALSE STEP...A FALSE LEAP.  IT BELONGED TO MY BOYFRIEND'S MOTHER, AND IT WENT BACK TO ITS HOME AFTER THE EVENT.  I WAS 22...AND AM SURE I LOOKED RIDICULOUSLY SILLY SPORTING A GORGEOUS MINK I OBVIOUSLY COULDN'T AFFORD NOR KNEW HOW TO CARE FOR...IT WAS A COLD NIGHT AND IT DID KEEP ME WARM.  I'VE NOT EVER WORN ANOTHER STOLE.
