NEED VS. CRITICAL

UPDATE:  CONGRATULATIONS, UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA!!
WHO WON THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
THEY DOMINATED LSU.  WE'RE EAGER TO HEAR AND SEE THE LOCAL CELEBRATIONS THIS NEXT WEEK IN TUSCALOOSA!
ROLL TIDE!

Mondays are somewhat ‘hated’ days of the week  wonderfully welcoming on their own

…knowing you’ll be ‘getting back to work’ or ‘school’ Those things especially tickle your funny bone or eagerness to get started, don’t they?!

Our Monday was even further enhanced by having scheduled a ‘car maintenance’ appointment for BabyGirl’s car, YIPPEEEE, such fun not.
We had mentioned the maintenance needed to be done earlier during the Winter Break but some of us like to challenge norms for this kind of ‘fun’
GOALS:
  • finish work today
  • corporate ‘recall’ replacement
  • 110,000-mile maintenance
  • yearly inspection
  • reasonable cost
Happily, I was successful setting and responding to my alarm clock.  (a praise these days)
…so I quickly checked BabyGirl’s room for ‘movement’ since dread had crossed my mind a time or two I was concerned at waking a sleeping college student.  Thankfully, it was washed away when she blurrily answered my inquiry at her door.

The weather channel had predicted rain and fog (because it’s January and we’ve been in the 60’s with thunderstorms…wha’z up?!).

After running downstairs and filling my travel coffee cup with Italian cafĂ©/Almond Joy creamer,  I was sliding on my rubber rain boots when Daughter emerged from her room.
We’ve gotten used to no one parking behind our cars in the driveway.  Why is it we have to “intentionally” remind ourselves there’s a car behind us when she returns home?
(BabyGirl's car is black…and ‘little’?)  Oh, alright…I’m envious of hub’s ‘backing up’ alarm…it beeps when foreign objects are a foot or closer.  To remedy my not having that feature, I “back” into our driveway using my mirrors…and saving my deteriorating neck.
Arriving at the dealership, only two other cars were ahead of us, so we had accomplished the important task of ‘early’ for an ‘earlier’ finish.  Early bird gets the worm!

Update:  The service manager called with the ‘cost’ of 3 CRITICAL problems and 2 ‘needs’ found while handling the other 3 changes we requested.

Oh.My.Word.

The early bird found a ‘rotten’ worm … or three.

p.s. We have two more vehicles to be inspected and/or repaired before the end of this month…

PROJECT 365

JOINING SARA for Week 30.   Here's my week:

7/17:  Every three years I get to enjoy 'fasting' for my 'procedure'...it made for an interesting lunch with friends at STEAKnSHAKE
I enjoyed every sip of Coke and every saltine cracker, weeeeeee!
(no pic but still a fun time with BS&K and Mr. BS&K)

7/18:  Procedure day started at 4:45am (for may last step before heading to the doctor's office)...thank goodness it was very early (that way I won't have to be so hungry for so long).
After signing in, I had to breathe in patience while giving my complete history to the LPN, she tagged me (like those big bucks you see on National Geographic TV so they can be tracked by scientists).

Putting all my belongings in a bag after undressing, I got to warm up the gurney while repeating my information to the assistant anesthesiologist, and yet again to the actual anesthesiologist once in the 'sterile' room.

Thinking for sure I was done with my mantra of myself, I soon discovered I was going to get to repeat it all again to the attending nurse while my Dr. re-read my file and bid me a 'good morning'.  (Let's just say I REALLY felt safe in knowing they all KNEW me and my body.)
p.s.  All was good with the test; no polyps or fissures...12 years cancer free ;)

7/19 (no pics)

7/20: Enjoyed driving to Braselton to meet my sissy and her 2 grandchildren at the city' municipal building...we were going to see Ronald McDonald do a show celebrating the summer reading program.

Little bit ate his bottle while the kids were finding their seats in front of the 'stage', so he was ready to enjoy Ronald when he walked out from behind his 'tent'.

While sitting on the sidelines with sissy and Ryan, I was waving at Katie to raise her hand so Ronald would call her up to do some magic tricks with him...and he called on ME!  hahahah
I got to do some tricks with him, then he had me choose a helper (and I HAD to choose Katie to come help me.)

We used a marker and filled in a poster with the things we learned from Ronald...Katie is holding it in the picture...it now hangs in the library.

After the show the library hosted a quick ice cream and cake party where they handed out the 'summer reading program' certificates...little bit wouldn't get any ice cream (I think this shot is appropriate for how he must have felt about that).

He did take the rest of his bottle and even started napping before they drove home.

7/21:  Since I had not had my 'normal' Monday thrift day, I took some time see what was available this week.

There were many interesting fabrics rolled up...varying in price from $1.91-$3.00...each packet had about 3 yards of material...and a couple of packets were actually valances.

I'll post the projects I complete with these pretties later.

7/22: Started knitting up some 'leftovers' from my 'bag of threads'.  This will end up being 3 or 4 colors because I'm almost out of the turquoise and brown.

7/23:  Hubby was busy with some of his buddies today and Skoot went to the lake with friends, so I had a Saturday afternoon to myself.  After cleaning grout in showers and washing 2 loads, my tootsies were due for some tender-loving care.

What things kept you busy this week?  Come show us, just click on the button at the top and it will take you to Sara's ;)

It was great on a seedless rye sandwich...

4.14.11: little bit got to go home, and his big sister is LOVING having him there ;)
4.16.11:  weather has been a 'booger' lately...Moms don't like seeing these kinds of maps when their child is in the same vacinity.  Makes me want to 'go get her'.  But, God was watching over her and trying to calm her nerves.

Prayers go up for the families of 7 people who died in this storm, so sad.
Hope you have a blessed week; and I'm praying for no more storms.

Blessings,

MY NEW CLASS...THEY'RE WONDERFULLY FULL OF KNOWLEDGE AND LOTS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE SCRIPTURES...
IT WAS SUCH A GOOD TIME GETTING TO VISIT WITH DD IN HER NEW ENVIRONMENT OF COLLEGE...BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS.  CLASSES ARE KEEPING HER BUSY  YET SHE HAS MENTIONED SHE MISSES HOME COOKING...YOU KNOW THAT 'INSTITUTIONAL FOOD' REPETITION DOES GET OLD QUICKLY.

WITH MY BAND/PERFORMANCE BACKGROUND, THIS WAS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS FOR ME....WE WERE PARKED RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE 'MILLION-DOLLAR BAND'S" PRACTICE FIELD

WE WALKED A LOT...A LOT...DID I SAY, A LOT?  HAHA
HER FIRST GAMEDAY WAS FULL OF TAILGATING, EATING AND SHOWING US WHICH BUILDINGS HELD HER CLASSES...AND THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP WAS CATCHING UP WITH OTHER FRIENDS WHO ARE ALSO AT THE SAME COLLEGE

PROJECT 365...someone's home from Italy

JOINING SARA...
My 365 week was basically NON-EXISTENT...but, DD's was very much a photo op...

Having spent 10 days in Italy, there are pictures GALORE.
Here are several of her memories...

Flying first into Florence, then on to Venice... gondola rides were a MUST...

Streets of water....

SORRENTO was one of her favorites...
beautiful sunsets were the norm!
Thank goodness they enjoyed WONDERFUL weather

No trip would be complete without 'holding up Vesuvius', hahahaha!

SNEAKING IN SOME SLEEP on the ferry

CAPRI was another favorite...just look at those views!

Got a little time in the water...

MORE amazing scenery...

The streets of POMPEY were eery but intriguing...they had learned so much about this period in their Latin class...

lots of walking...
walking...
more walking

Culinary school in Rome...LOTS OF FUN learning to make pasta

Gladiator school proved a lot of fun, too! Their teacher has taught stars, like Russell Crowe, to be gladiators in movies!

All of the columns were SOOOO ornate...everywhere you looked.

GELATO was one of the BIGGEST hits of the trip...

Surely wish I could have been on this trip ;)
