CLOSETS AND OUR BASEMENT…
GRADUALLY PACKING BOXES TO BE DELIVERED TO A LOCAL CONSIGNMENT SHOP…$22 SO FAR…MORE IMPORTANT TO GET IT OUT THAN TO MAKE THE MONEY

2. What's the worst uniform you've ever had to wear for a job?  NEVER HAVE WORN A UNIFORM FOR BUSINESS…USED TO HAVE TO WEAR SUITS TO WORK, AND THE WORST PART ABOUT THAT WAS THE HEELS….

COMMUTING IN TENNIS SHOES/OVERCOAT WAS MY SAVING GRACE…FOR 15 YEARS I TROMPED IN AND OUT OF THE TRAIN STATION.

3. What was your last kitchen 'mishap'? This question comes to you courtesy of Betty who blogs over at A Glimpse Into Midlife...everyone go say hi to Betty!  REACHING FOR A LARGE BOWL, KNOCKED A SOUP BOWL OUT OF THE CUPBOARD, BREAKING IT TO PIECES…

4. How do you protect yourself from other people's negativity?  TRY TO IGNORE IT

5. Who in your family do you most resemble (physically)? If you have children, who do people say they favor? Do you agree?  MY DADDY GAVE ME MANY OF HIS PHYSICAL TRAITS…

LITTLE HANDS/FEET, SAME JAW STRUCTURE, SAME EYES…AND SKOOTS HAS MANY OF THE SAME

6. January 8th is National Bubble Bath Day...will you be celebrating?  NOPE, CAN’T DO BUBBLE BATHS…TOO MANY ISSUES ARISE IF I LATHER AND LINGER IN SOAPY WATER…

MAKE IT A HOT BATH WITH NO SOAP AND I’M GOOD TO ENJOY

7. Some of the 'world's best winter festivals' are - Mardi Gras (New Orleans), Quebec Winter Festival (Canada), Sundance Film Festival (Park City, Utah), Rio Carnivale (Brazil), Sapporo Snow Festival (Japan), Venice Carnivale (Italy) and the Harbin Ice Festival (Northern China). Of those listed (and if cost were not a factor) which would you most like to attend and why?
MY CHOICE WOULD BE VENICE’S CARNIVALE IN ITALY…

DAUGHTER loved ITALY SO MUCH AND I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT FOR MYSELF AND GET TO TASTE THEY WONDERFULLY PREPARED FOODS

8. Random thought here:
Today was a return-t0-crocheting day for our Prayer Shawl Ministry…we had fun meeting new people, catching up, sewing on crosses, adding Ministry tags and loading our NEW shawl closet.  Here’s the group,

(although, when I first looked at the picture it reminded me of my ‘boogie woogie’ dancing days)….

IN SUMMARY: 
CLEARING OUT more tomorrow, thankful for NOT having to commute on a bus/train every day, wondering what my NEXT mishap will be, praying NOT to come across negatively, missing my sweet Daddy’s laugh and smile, jealous of all the ladies who WILL BE having a bubble bath, making a new jar to save $$ for Italy and eager to start my next Prayer Shawl project after I finish this post.

Monday was ‘volunteer’ work in the morning with two other people who give so much of their time …unfortunately, this caused me to MISS getting to HUG my BabyGirl…she was heading back to T’town.

Mama’s heart hurts (along with her head) when hugs are missed…maybe I’ll get out the vhs tapes to watch old videos... of her sitting in my lap and hugging my neck in order to patch this hole. 

a little thrifting during the afternoon brought several ‘new’ Summer tops, matching sandals, books, blank journals and miscellaneous greeting card packets …pics will follow in this week’s photo365

Think I’ll use my leftover pinto beans for chili tonight with some lower-fat corn muffins and mixed-green salads …after I get home from dropping off my large bags of clothes to Goodwill

HODGEPODGE WEDNESDAY...(updated w/ pic)

1. With tax season being the most wonderful time of the year...doesn’t everyone enjoy completing their own returns? I get all tingly… eagerly gathering all my receipts so as to plug the numbers into the forms…getting my surprise answer at the very end…it’s like Christmas in reverse.  Yeah, right.
I think the President should leave me milk and cookies for paying MY bills on time and not over-spending and NOT receiving OTHER peoples’ money through my government’s orchestrated programs.

2. Change comes about when we want it and when we don’t.  Change, like clicking seconds on a watch, continues whether or not I want it…occurring while I’m inattentive or mesmerized by its ticking. 
Little changes REALLY sneak in, sliding right into place; maybe they avoid me so I won’t realize they’re arrival.  BIG ones slap you in the face because of their BIGness.  Considering their BADness or GOODness certainly affects my efforts in accepting or trying to fix them. 
As to deciding which changes me more, ‘love’ or ‘pain’, here’s a GREAT quote:

I have found the paradox:  If you love until it hurts,

3.  Even though Tangerine Tango has been highlighted for 2012, it will NOT be part of my house, closet, clothing or shoes…I had enough of that color in the 70’s when my room was orange mushrooms and yellow smiley faces…yuck!      (tangerine tango looks like:  here)

4.  Used to collect roosters…used to collect angels…used to collect nativities….see a pattern?  Moving the collections in/out of boxes is NOT a favorite thing to do any longer nor is dusting in and around all the nooks and crannies of ‘said collections.  These days involve more ‘thrifting, re-thrifting, re-gifting, re-purposing, or throwing out’.  My slogan these days:  When something comes in, something else has to go out.

5.  February/Heart Month: A tasty, heart-healthy dish I like:  roasted asparagus with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and lemon.   

6. My last car trouble was mine, but not mine.  CollegeGirl’s car is in reality ‘my car’ per the title…fuel injector flushes, bearings, and oil pan leaks tend to deplete one’s bank account in the blink of an eye; and in addition, the County/State emissions testing and yearly tag payments had to be handled. 

7. Have you been “more” or “less” demanding on yourself lately? Is that a good trend?  My trend recently has been ‘less’ demanding on myself…cutting myself some slack during some VERY trying times…I know better than to pray for patience, so I’m continuing to pray on His promises and thanking Him for ‘being on this side of the dirt’ as Paula Deane calls it.

8. This afternoon and evening I had been working with a new knitting project which proved cumbersome for my ‘counting’ abilities, so after the third time of getting 20 or so rows into the project and having to pull it all out, I decided to put it down and pick it back up after I had concentrated on some other thing.  Finally, after supper was finished, I picked it back up and successfully counted and knitted my way back to the 23rd row…maybe this time, I’ll be happy with it’s outcome.

With our weather being sooooo hot and humid lately, I've been busily crocheting/knitting while creating prayer cloths for our church's prayer ministry...Chicks with Sticks

During the heat it's MUCH more pleasant to work on the smaller projects because there is not A LOT of extra thread lying in my lap. Above is a 'round' prayer cloth I crocheted without a pattern....it was fun doing the 'bobbles' in the center. Some days I just DO NOT want to follow a pattern.

The purple granny squares were easy to count and worked quickly.
Variegated yarn is another favorite...easy and felt great in my hands since the thread is cotton.



Here are a few of my 'no pattern' experiments....not too bad

The last yellow and white rectangular pieces are our one of our 'official' patterns...with the cross in the center. These only take about 20 minutes each to complete.
