I NEED…

Skoot is HOME! She arrived earlier than expected and was HAPPY WITH THERE HAVING BEEN NO traffic issues throughout her four-hour drive to Atlanta.
After hauling her bags to her room she approached me with her first I NEED…we were off to run errands …

she has a job tomorrow helping with a friend’s wedding set-up in the morning and serving and clean-up in the evening.

First Stop:  for a split-end trim and bangs cut

and straight to

looking for sweater tights…no luck…they had tights but no sweater tights.

Trekking down the Mall corridor, we also check out



 
 
















unfortunately, their ad didn’t quite work … we didn’t find what we wanted…
 
so, trekking continues as we decide to go into

where we find ‘fingerless gloves’ for $5.60..(I can’t make them for that much…),
a pair of ‘heart’ earrings ($3.30)
and houndstooth tights (for a different outfit, $7)

But…we are STILL looking for the ‘sweater tights’…now to
and they had a wonderful selection…one pair really fit the bill but too pricey ($22)…
where we found some great tights, but they weren’t textured…
Next storefront we thought would be a good bet….
 we HAD to check out the ‘smells’ while there, since Hubs was NO WHERE around, we could spray, test and stink to high heaven if we desired…

Before heading out the door to the car, a wedding gift was in order for the ‘newlyweds to be’…stopping at Belk’s always fares well for those type events…

HIBACHI WAS THE MEAL OF THE DAY

 

THOSE HIBACHI CHEFS ALWAYS MANAGE TO DO SOMETHING SILLY DURING THE 'SHOW'...THIS LITTLE BALL PLAYER WAS FULL OF WATER...HE WAS USED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN...)

I THINK DD AND FRIENDS HAD A GOOD TIME EATING AND HANGING OUT TOGETHER

 

HUBS AND I CUT A PIECE OUT OF THE CAKE BEFORE DD TOOK IT WITH HER TO HER BIBLE STUDY CLASS LATER THAT AFTERNOON...IT WAS GOOD THAT IT WAS GOING AWAY FROM MY HOUSE!

3.30...BLESSED TO PARTICIPATE IN A 'SEDER'...

A LAST SUPPER AT OUR CHURCH. 

I LOVE CHRISTIAN-HEBRAIC LEGACY AND ENJOY LEARNING MORE AND MORE ABOUT THE TRADITIONS, THEIR MEANINGS THEN AND THEIR MEANINGS AFTER CHRIST FULFILLED THE LAW.  THIS IS A SHOT OF OUR 'TRAY' THAT WAS PASSED AT OUR TABLE DURING EACH SECTION OF THE MEAL...BITTER HERBS, LAMB SHANK, BOILED EGGS, CHAROSETH, MATZOH...EACH WITH ITS OWN MEANING AND REMEMBRANCE FOR THE JEWS.  OUR 'WINE' WAS GRAPE JUICE AND WE DRANK IT AFTER EACH OF THE FOUR BLESSINGS THROUGHOUT THE SEDER.

OUR DRAMA TEAM HAD MEMORIZED A LOT OF SPECIFIC PRAYERS, SONGS AND SCRIPTURE TO FULFILL THIS MEAL AS THEY ACTED IT OUT ON THE STAGE...WE FOLLOWED IN SUIT AFTER EACH PART OF THE MEAL THEY PORTRAYED.

 

I WAS BLESSED TO GET TO SIT NEXT TO AN EMMAUS SISTER DURING THE SEDER...SHE'S BEEN IN MY LIFE FOR YEARS AND WAS ONE OF DD'S TEACHERS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

4.3 ANNUAL EASTER FESTIVAL

HELD AT ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES ON EARTH...OUR CAMPGROUND. SO MANY PEOPLE THIS YEAR...LITTLE AND BIG.  THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT, IN THE 70'S, BRIGHT SUNSHINE RAINED DOWN ON US.  THE NEWLY-LAID 'SOD' IS GROWING BRISKLY AND WILL BE MUCH THICKER BY 'CAMP MEETING' TIME IN JULY.

SEVERAL OF OUR YOUTH VOLUNTEERED AT THE VARIOUS BOOTHS, SHAVING ICE, POURING DRINKS, MANNING 'BOUNCEY' CASTLES/SLIDES...THEY WERE HAVING SO MUCH FUN WHILE BEING 'CHRIST'S HANDS AND FEET' IN SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY...THIS WAS A FREE EVENT FOR ANY ONE TO ENJOY.

DD GOT A PIC OF ME WITH 'THE BUNNY'...

I'M SURPRISED HE HAD SO MUCH ENERGY AND TIME...I FIGURED HE'D BE RESTING UP FOR ALL THAT WORK HE HAS TO DO TOMORROW!  BUT, HE DID HAVE TIME TO LET ME HUG HIM!!!  HE'S ALWAYS BEEN SOOOOOOO GOOD TO ME :)

HIS LITTLE SISTER WAS ENJOYING HER SPOT IN ONE OF THE EMPTY EASTER BASKETS...SEE SHE'S RESTING...HE MAY GET HER BUSY TOMORROW, TOO!

THE BUNNIES HAD SEVERAL OF THEIR FRIENDS VISITING WITH THEM...AND THE KIDS LOVED EVERY MINUTE WITH EACH OF THEM...HERE'S SS WITH THE FAT, 5-YEAR OL ROOSTER...HE WEIGHS 15 LBS. AND HE LOVED 'CROWING' EVERY FEW MINUTES.  THE KIDS WOULD 'SCATTER' WHEN HE RARED BACK AND CROWED.

DD GOT HER HANDS ON THE SMALLEST BUNNY...SHE'S ALWAYS WANTED ONE BUT WE NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THAT WORKED INTO OUR LIVES.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE SHOT OF THE DAY...

ISN'T THIS THE SWEETEST LITTLE LAMB SHE'S PETTING...IT WAS SO FLUFFY AND SWEET...SUCH AN INNOCENT REPRESENTATION OF OUR LORD'S LIFE...OUR PRECIOUS, COMPLETELY-GIVEN LAMB COVERING ALL OUR UGLINESS.

A BURRO CALMLY WALKED AROUND, TAKING CORN FROM ANYONE WHO WOULD OFFER...
HE WAS NEVER PUSHY THOUGH.

AT FIRST HE WOULDN'T RAISE HIS HEAD FOR A PICTURE, SO I ROOTED AROUND UNDER THE HAY AND FOUND SOME CORN FOR HER TO HOLD IN HER PALM...WA LAH!!! THEN, I GOT THE SHOT :)

IN ADDITION TO THE MANY ANIMALS THE BUNNY BROUGHT...
 HE SHARED SOME CLOWNS, WHO WERE BLOWING BUBBLES,

 

AND CHARACTERS, LIKE WINNIE THE POOH, HAD PICS MADE WITH THE KIDS...

EVEN SOME OF OUR COLLEGE KIDS CAME HOME FROM OUT OF STATE

AND WORKED AT THE EVENT...

HERE, CM IS MANNING THE 'BLOWUP SLIDE'...SHE WAS SOOOOOO PATIENT WITH THESE LITTLE ONES.

SHE'S ONE OF MY 'HUGGERS' ...

SHE FINDS ME WHENEVER HOME AND GRABS ME WITH HER 'SOCCER STRONG' ARMS AND GIVES THE 'HUGE-EST' HUGS...LOVE IT!  I'VE WATCHED HER GROW UP SINCE SHE WAS 5YO.  THE TIME HAS FLOWN BY...SHE'LL BE STARTING HER 2ND YEAR IN COLLEGE SOON.

OUR WEEK WAS SUCH A JOY...

HOLY WEEK IS SUCH AN EMOTIONAL TIME, REMEMBERING HOW OUR LORD GAVE EVERYTHING FOR US.  WE'RE EAGER FOR EASTER MORNING TO AGAIN PRAISE HIM FOR DEFEATING DEATH AND BEING OUR HOPE AND SALVATION FOR ETERNITY.

Last night I heard ADAM LAMBERT

Did you get a chance to hear his rendition of "The Tracks of My Tears" on American Idol last night? I remember the original version written and sung by Smokey Robinson ...we'll not mention just how long ago that was, ok? "Outside I'm masquerading/Inside, my hope is fading"...wafting through the airwaves falling softly on my ears...in a whole new way...his re-make gave this song a "new life".

Were you as surprised as I was by this performance and appearance tonight?! ... Previously, he has mainly shown his "rockin' " prowess, edgy hairstyle and black-painted fingernails.

You know, when looking at his previous Idol pics, Adam and I share the same haircut...it looks better on him!

...and I don't paint my nails black... and goodness knows I don't have the same singing talent.

Last night I was 12 again...kinda swooning-- the way I once did when Donny or David Cassidy would sing their solos!

His stunning ability to "morph" into his songs and their genre is breath-taking...

I felt like I was looking at an entirely different person...WOW!

One word is too small to convey this young man's GOD-given ABILITY to CANTILLATE, CROON, or ROCK OUT. Whatever word you use, it's apparent he's worked hard and fine-tuned an "AMAZING" gift... in his voice & stage presence...

In whatever language you prefer: sorprendente / italian; einmalig / german;asombroso/spanish; or 깜짝 놀라게 하기 / korean...God has given him an AMAZING talent !

Each of us can often change, too...like shifting shadows. We can manipulate our appearances, our demeanor, our commitment levels even.

Unfortunately there are manipulations, deceptions all around us....especially on television...fooling the world.

But, our Lord does not change...does not shift...He is the rock, He is steady, He is creator, provider of every good and fruitful thing!

He knows our "real" hearts, our "true" intentions, and recognizes us even when we think we've "fooled the world".

Lord, Help us each recognize what You do in our lives;

Give us Your steadfastness to do Our Father's Will.

Give us the "stage presence" to stand up for Your truth as we "take each curtain call"...

seeking Your face in everything we do...

using our Hands and Feet to praise You and work for God's kingdom!

Amen & Amen...Let it be so!!

My year of JUBILEE...Described in Biblical words as a special time, a time to “...proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants; it shall be a jubilee for you..."For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you." Leviticus 25:10,12

Half a century ago......a lot of neat things were coming into our world.

The year, 1959...Boots and H. J. were expecting "twinkle in their eye" to arrive as all the following events joined in the year's celebration:

• Pantyhose are introduced (Thank goodness it didn't take long for all the stockings, garters, garter-belts, and corsets were thrown away...today, I hate pantyhose even...thigh-highs are the way to go if I have need of hosiery...even those are a pain if I'm in slacks, then its KNEE HIs, baby!)

• She's here! BARBIE! (Yes, Barbie is actually older than me...woo hoo! How she keeps that body, I'll never know!)

• BIC ballpoint pen is introduced in America! (those little pens kept me in business as a stenographer for many years...thank goodness I didn't have to use a cartridge pen b/c whenever I did use a cartridge pen more of the ink leaked onto my fingers and clothes than ever flowed onto the paper.)


• Alaska was admitted to statehood on February 3, followed by Hawaii on August 21.
  
• Bonanza debuts on TV (I must admit, I was a LITTLE JOE fan!! He was just too cute in those leather chaps and boots.)
• The microchip is invented by Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce of the U.S. (I owed a lot of my telecommunications career to this invention...boy, we wouldn't be having these blogs if it wasn't for that little chip ingenuity...BIG little chip ingenuity I should say)


• Walt Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" released. (Awwwww, sharing birthday months with Barbie and Sleeping Beauty...wow, the competition is tough!)

In today's times, the word Jubilee brings quite different meanings and sights.

• The Queen of England had her year of Jubilee and they produced stamps for her...apparently she gets a stamp every 10 years....(Dog, I haven't gotten my first one yet! Guess my blood's not blue enough)
  
• There are showgirls in Vegas in the show Jubilee! at Bally's.





• (I've been to Vegas but didn't go to Bally's...I was constantly closing my eyes while I was in that town, and that can prove to be dangerous as you're walking down the main drag. I didn't want to see the ads on the back-ends of taxis and the billboards, or the nasty, little business cards being pushed at you by the "side-walk" promoters of the "off main" sites that can't afford the billboards and taxi ads. I was praying for forgiveness that I was even there, although I did enjoy the time with hubby when we saw BLUE-MAN GROUP at the LUXOR...Do you reckon they'll get stamps since they're very obviously blue enough!?)
  
• X-MEN has a Jubilation...they call her "JubiLee" for short, and she had the superhuman power to generate "fireworks" of explosive plasma.
• (Oh, I want that power...there are times now when I'm starting an internal fireworks show, and I think this power would really bring the message home not to bother me at the moment, you know, while I'm in the tropics...it would be nice to enjoy an explosive gala in the sky! AHA, as Liddie would say, "I KEN LEE JubiLee and her powers, especially if I could have them :) )

And I got to proclaim my liberty by blowing out my candles (thank goodness they didn't have 50 candles on the cake...it would have burned the house down and I sure wouldn't have had enough air in these lungs to extinguish the flames!)

• After getting a look at my party pictures, I bit the bullet and went to the salon...I'm done with the long hair.
