VERIFI-nary FUN

Remember the NAME GAME?
Some call it the Banana Game...
it'll get caught in your head...
If you're NOT familiar with that song, watch this:

A recent 'addiction' I've had...
giving definitions for the 'verification' words shown on the myriad of blogs I visit, read and leave comments.
I've named my  addiction for this time-using fun :Verifi-nary

(you know, a combo of verification and dictionary...real original huh?! hahah

Oh well...my brain isn't very creative these dayz.

Verifinary, Verifinary, bo-Verifinary
Banana-fana fo-Verifinary
Fee-fi-mo-Verifinary
Verifi-nary!
I wanted to use the same voice inflections like that song...when saying 'verifi-nary'

Gradually I'm building my list of BLOGwordz and "verifi-nitions", hahahah!

I've been posting on my top-right sidebar those making me giggle, like:

  • BLABLUUM what you need when a new blogger is 'teething'

  • Do you ever come up with 'toungue-in-cheek' meanings for those little verifier words?

I think it would be something different to blog about here and there.

What do you think about periodically sharing them?
If you already have some, link up and share them here :)

FLASHBACK FRIDAY: “And that's the way it is, March 25, 2011."

Mainly local television brought our news…we had a whopping ‘3’ channels…in black and white.

Stop laughing, we thought we were the house to visit because we HAD a TV.

My Daddy’s favorite newscaster was Walter Cronkite with his AMAZING voice and on-screen respect for those he covered.
For those who have never seen/hear Walter, he ALWAYS closed his coverage by saying "And that's the way it is" followed by the date, hence my title for today.

Subscribing to the newspaper was also something my Daddy did…unfortunately, we only had ‘1’ and it was rather skewed on the local news (something I later found out).  However, I loved reading the comics, they were in COLOR!  I know, how did they do that?

A Sunday didn’t pass without my using my silly putty to flatten and get a ‘copy’ of FAMILY CIRCUS by Bill Keane...like this (i think this is an incredible CAKE)

Occasionally my parents would turn off the TV was ‘rough’; but that didn’t happen a lot then, so most of the news was discussed out in the open.  Fright did come a few times by local news events of rioting or discussions of war.  Daddy spoke out quite often about his opinions on both subjects, some of which I grew to understand and others still confuse me .
Presidential visits to cities back then were MUCH bigger than they are viewed today; so, we would attentively watch as President Kennedy would parade through the city he was visiting.

His assassination will always be in my memory as well as his funeral; I was the same age as John John, and I remember standing in front of the TV saluting with him.

Somehow BLACK and WHITE truly matched that moment in time, giving it the somberness and respect it deserved while we as a nation TRULY grieved.

One of my even though I was writhing in pain and majorly dehydrated from a day on the beach as a toe-headed white kid favorite remembrances in the news:  "I'll never forget July 21, 1969: While lying on the bed in our hotel room in Myrtle Beach, SC (we did hot have sunscreen then) my mother was slathering on NOXZEMA onto my blistered backwhile I was entranced watching Apollo 11’s Neil Armstrong announce and take his first steps onto the MOON.

The crackling of the voice transmissions along with the fuzzy black and white pictures coming across the TV AMAZED me…"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."   I heard those words live as they were occurring.
(side note: My grandmother NEVER came to believe they truly went there…she thought it was all a hoax just to give the Kennedy Whitehouse a leg up on Russia)
Those words will live in my memory forever…that moment totally intrigued the ‘techy’ in me.  Years later I visited our local science museum and awed over the moon rocks and the ‘copy’ of the lunar module.  I was EVEN MORE intrigued in Washington DC to visit the Smithsonian Air&Space Museum where I saw the actual water-landing capsule.
Probably one of my biggest personal moments:  In the late 1980's I worked as a telecommunications industry executive secretary and Retired Col. Frank Borman (Apollo 8) was on our board of directors.

His biggest fame came on December 18, 1968 when he was commander of NASA’s Apollo 8 (earth's first close-up view of the lunar surface/dark side of the Moon)

It’s fun remembering the days I handed him coffee, just said ‘hello’ or stood closely by as he sat at my desk while calling his home office.

(He was smaller than me but he was a GIANT in my memory.)
Times dear to my heart, for sure.
Come join in @ Mocha w/ Linda…I want to hear about your memories.

    THURSDAY THANX!

Thankful Thursday, click it to join us @ BUGSEYE VIEW
Thankfully we have amazing movies to remember Liz's gorgeous violet eyes and her amazingly-composed acting abilities (especially under the age of 15)...May God bless her memory giving her children, family and friends loving remembrances to hold in their hearts.
Thankful our church youth will be going on spring break soon. Their leaders will lovingly be showing them Christ and His Love.  Feeling a littlesad 'cause I won't be going...that season has passed but still praying they'll be encouraged, challenged, humbly open, and constantly listening.(yes, i can jump with the best of 'em; i did not say it would be pretty)

The sun in shining brightlythrough all my windows as it passes across the sky, the breezes are blowing my wind chimes and the birds woke me chirping loudly this morning. Thank you, Lord, for your steadfastness and renewing our part of the world with SPRING!) (soooo, I am thankful for 'mucinex'...'nuff said.)

Our air conditioner man will be here tomorrow to 'check the freon' and 'add if necessary'. (for this I will be extremely thankful come July and those 100* days)
    Have a great day, yall!!!

     Blessings,

    UPDATE: Satellite office report

UPDATE:   Response to Southern Board of Domestic Household Affairs, case 0306001--this is sierra kilo52 calling romeo lingo51:

SierraKilo52 has been off-site 'thrifting' with investigator-in-training charlieVictorKilo18 and hadn't read previous message until now.

Please update the Board's files with the following sierraKilo findings

Said anomaly was not claimed by the unnamed suspect; however, finger prints found at the scene have confirmed the previous suspect.

NOTE:  Other evidence was compromised; flushing had already occurred
NOTE: This scene investigator didn't need further proof and was satisfied with just the fingerprint evidence.
Further follow-up investigation at this residence confirmed another conspiracy to almost mimic the tea incident.

Latest Incident:  Drink slots of the residence refrigerator were found completely empty, even though soft drinks in abundance on the property.  (see following evidence as noted)

    Evidence #0314001

Seems there might be another culprit on these premises unable to replace sodas.  Fresh 'empties' were found on the kitchen counter and in the garbage receptacle instead of in the recycle bin. (see following evidence as noted)
    Evidence #0314002

We are pending fingerprint analysis and, therefore, have been unable to secure the suspect until such evidence has been confirmed.

This site recommends holding onto your 'hopes and dreams' in that multiple misdemeanors continue to appear, almost quicker than they can be handled by the local CSI team.

Will keep communication lines open in case we have MORE threatening emergencies..over. sierra kilo52 out!

JOINING SARA FOR ANOTHER  WEEK OF PICS

Sunday, 3.6.2011 (DAY 64) no pix
Am I the only one who finds this?

Maybe the old roll is needed for a future project.    Is it a hint?  Maybe there wasn't enough time to handle this big job before running out the door.  What do you think could cause this strange phenomenon?

I need to try this hint stuff...  I can bring the veggies to the table in the can rather than dirtying my pots, do you think that would go over?  bite my tongue

    MONDAY, 3.7.2011 (DAY 65)
One of the previous students in my youth group was in the hospital, so a 'prayer shawl' visit was needed.

Making a prayer shawl takes time but delivering them is a pretty quick thing to do.

Sharing prayers and love with those around us spreads God's Word in very tangible ways.

After dropping off the shawl, I grabbed a piece of pizza and a salad from the hospital cafeteria and sat outside to figure out what that large shiny thing was in the sky to enjoy the sunshine!
    TUESDAY, 3.8.2011 (day 66)
Enjoyed lunch with the hubs close to his office ... doesn't his chicken breast dish look wonderful sitting up on that pile of mashed spuds?

    WEDNESDAY, 3.9.2011 (DAY 67)
    no pix

    THURSDAY, 3.10.2011 (DAY 68)
I love getting shots when I'm out walking...isn't this an interesting double set of trees coming out from the side of the creek?

    FRIDAY, 3.11.2011 (DAY 68)
Hubs rented scaffolding so we could work on getting the new foyer chandelier put in place...what a job!

    SATURDAY, 3.12.2011 (DAY 69)
Most of this day was used getting the old chandelier down and the new chandelier up...whew!  He's up top...didn't want a pic on the internet so I cropped him out...18 feet off the ground on top of the scaffolding and up the ladder...able to disconnect/connect the electricity.  Good bye, old 80's brass!
      Hello, new brushed nickel!

    Sunday, 3.13.2011 (day 70)
What a blessing it is to have DearestDaughter home from school.  She has safely arrived, already been having fun with her friends...
here she is enjoying some reading time on our deck in the Sonshine after worship and lunch!

Thank you, Jesus, for giving us these blessings throughout this week.  May each of us in Project 365 have another GREAT WEEK and recognize it i from you!

    MARDIS-GRAS-STYLED HODGEPODGE

    JOINING
    1. Lent begins March 9th...do you participate and if so, in what way?  ASH WEDNESDAY services at our church are very solemn and soul-searching.

Evading that service for some reason?  Please change your mind and go listen to the message because walking 40 days toward the cross is powerful.  The imposition of ashes, like similar external practices are hypocritical though unless there is a corresponding inner repentance and change of behavior.
Isaiah 58:5-7 shared what God told him when he wrote:"Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD? Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?"
    2. Traditionally pancakes are eaten on the day known as Shrove Tuesday/Fat Tuesday (the last day before Lent).   So....What's your pleasure when it comes to eating pancakes?  Asking for my favorite topping or side fruit with pancakes is like asking me for my favorite flavor of chocolate...why any of it, of course!
Different syrups and different fruits ALWAYS make me happy with pancakes, so I don't balk at any of them...as long as I have a wet wipe to keep my hands from being sticky.  Now, that's where I draw my line.  l can't stand having sticky fingers or a sticky fork while I eat pancakes or waffles.  hahahah!  Yes, we did have pancakes (w/ molasses-glazed plantains, jambalaya and collards.

    3. Spring is coming. (It is coming, right?) What's your favorite springtime flower and do you suffer from seasonal allergies?  From my particular yard scene, my favorite is my 'blooming' butterfly bush in its vibrant purple...and it lasts quite a while.
I would have chosen my tulips, gerberas, azaleas and amaryllis but they just DON'T last long enough before they are gone again.
Usually while they are all blooming I am suffering with the 'sniffles' but now that my good doc has me prescried with a specific nose spray, life is much better in the Spring.

    4. "Our opinion of people depends less upon what we see in them than upon what they make us see in ourselves." Author unknown.         Why do you Agree or Disagree with this statement?   Sometimes Agree, Sometimes Disagree

    5. Since it's "March" ...Mardi Gras just occurred.  Have you ever been in a parade? What's the best parade you've seen?  I've been in several parades (as a trumpet player and drum major in high school)...and the most fun one I was ever in was the DISNEY parade over the 4th of July in 1976.  Wow, that was a long time ago, you know?

Watching a parade  is an entirely different thing to me because I want to be in all of them...much more fun.  I get irritated with parades and all their commercials just like I do football/baseball games and all their 'money pumping'...and don't even bring up the fact that you NEVER get to watch college halftime shows anymore...ya think it's a sore spot with me?  I'd say so.

    6. You would jump up and down, shout for joy right now if someone told you "tomorrow morning you will wake up with the 29-yo body like the day you were married!  Yes, I would go to bed right after supper eager to meet the morning.

    7. How clean is your car on the outside? Inside?  Is there junk in your trunk?  CLEAN is in the eye of the beholder. I have a few things in the rear of the suv that I must use in my study group, but it has been vacuumed...and the outside was washed last week, so I'm relatively beholding a 'keeper'.

    8. Insert your own random thought here.  Yesterday I drove on some roads I was unsure of...and I left my 'helper tomtom' at home (a lot of good that does).  After thinking I was going in the right directions at two different times, I finally stopped driving gathered my bearings with the sun, looked at the compass in the car dashboard, and headed East.  Eventually I got to a road I knew and made it home 45 minutes later than expected.

Thank you, Daddy, for teaching me how to 'NOT depend on maps' and use common sense.

    Blessings,
