ALPHABE-Thursday…knitting pieces

Alphabe-Thursday!

[teacher.jpg]

Today we will be studying the knockout letter:

Knitting is my ‘k’ word…knitting and kroh-shay, hahahahah!

I’ve been busy this week readying another prayer shawl for our church ministry.  Last week I was given 9 very large ‘krohshayed’ squares to piece together with some of our ‘leftover’ yarn.  I always enjoy these projects because they don’t take me long and I can ‘play’ with how I join and edge the pieces together.  The yellow I used on the white/blue squares really ‘popped’…and it was fun adding the yellow to the middle circles..they look like ‘sunshine’.

What is YOUR ‘K’ word this week?

PROJECT 365, WEEK 26

DISCLAIMER**NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I EDITED THIS POST; IT WOULDN'T PUT THE WORDS NEXT TO THE PICS...SO FIGURE IT OUT AS BEST YOU CAN...I'M GOING TO BED.
SUNDAY, 6/19  HAD A GREAT VISIT WITH MY MOTHER AND STEPDAD (HE WAS STARTING AT A NEW APPOINTMENT...)

6/21  ENJOYED SOME GREAT HOMEMADE SUSHI WITH BS&K...WE ARE DEFINITELY DOING THIS AGAIN SOON
6/22 & 23  WORKED ON THE FLOWERS FOR THE EAR/HEADBAND I MADE...ENJOYING MAKING THEM A LOT!  THE CABLE PATTERN ON THE HEADBAND ISN'T PERFECT BUT I'VE GOT IT DOWN SO THAT THE NEXT TIME I'LL REALLY NOT HAVE TO LOOK AT THE PATTERN.

6/22
SKOOT AND I MET THE NEWEST MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY...MY NEPHEW'S SON, RYAN, IS NOW 13 WEEKS OLD AND WHAT A SWEETY HE IS...HE WASN'T FEELING GOOD THAT DAY THOUGH, TUMMY ACHE, WE THINK.

6/25
WHILE BRUSHING MY TEETH THIS MORNING A HUGE SOUND RUMBLED IN MY CLOSET...SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE HAD JUMPED THROUGH THE ROOF.  WHEN I CHECKED ON WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I FOUND THIS.  AFTER I PICKED UP ALL THE STUFF AND SEPARATED IT INTO STACKS ON THE BED, HUBS PUT UP NEW SUPPORTS AND RE-ATTACHED IT TO THE WALL...
THERE, THAT'S BETTER!
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK?

RE-PURPOSING: CAN YOU TIE A KNOT?

The Thrifty Groove

THRIFTING on Monday was fun again as I browsed the aisles to see what might be new.
're-usable' is a better word...one man's trash/treasure thing, you know?
Most of the time these wouldn't excite very many people but I had a "mess" at my house, and these would help with it.
The size 4X didn't excite me...but because there were 4 pair, it made it a REALLY good deal.

AND it was HALF PRICE day!  These cost a roaring $1.50
There was another thing planned for these puppies

it would NOT involve their EVER going over my legs, thank goodness.

(horrendous memories flooded over me as I remembered growing up in an 'un-airconditioned' home in the Deep South with all its humidity while trying to dress for Sunday church.  Let's just say if we didn't have an extra large bottle of baby powder on hand when I was a youngster, we might not ever have gotten our clothes on, especially pantyhose.)
Thank you, Lord, I am soooo thankful for air in churches and our contemporary services that don't require pantyhose, dresses and white gloves.
'What in the world' is this woman going to do and why is there suddenly a picture of onions and potatoes?  Note the onion skins lying on the countertop
Oops, I almost forgot I also needed these to help with this 're-purposing'...
Step 1:  Where the top of the pantyhose leg meets 'panty' portion of the hose, cut off each leg.  You'll now have 2 long stockings.

Step 2:  Now, hold open one leg and drop an onion down into the leg until it reaches the foot.

you'll be amazed how quickly and easily it will slide down the leg.
Pull the hosiery around and tie a knot firmly up against the onion
Repeat with all your onions.
Each onion will now get PLENTY of air flow and won't rot because it is leaning up against another onion or in a container.

At the top of the leg, I knotted the remainder around the wire rack in my pantry so the onions would hange freely and be easily accessible.

To prevent them from 'flapping in the breeze' against the door each time it is opened, I attached one of the sections with a bulldog clip to another edge of the rack half way down the leg .
WALLAH!
Now I can 'cut off the bottom onion when I need to cook, and the others will stay separated and won't drop all their messy skin on my kitchen counter each time I pick up an onion.

(My Mom actually hangs these in her basement and she's been known to have vidalia onions for months on end)
WHAT re-purposing having you been up to this week?

BEEing a BLESSING

Sometimes it's fun to CELEBRATE another blog, highlight someone else's journey on this road of life...

JOYCE @ FROM THIS SIDE OF THE POND is celebrating her 27th wedding anniversary yet her hubs is flying home from India on their special day.
He did send her the sweet picture but I couldn't let it remain so dark...
JUST HAD to help her see it better.  A little editing and 'abra ca dabra'
...now there are their faces!
What a beautiful picture from afar.
Happy Anniversary you two!

Here's a little bloggy award for your being such a inspiration to all the married couples.

WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE...week 31: onions, bugs and tans

This week's edition of the Wednesday Hodgepodge with JOYCE is really RANDOM...so why not join the party? Answer the questions on your own blog and then add your link over at Joyce's.
1. My one thing on my bucket list...the END of 'meany pause'...seriously.

2. The makings of a good dad is layered like an onion...like in Shrek...hahahah!
A heart truly centered on His Lord,
a strength as a leader who serves his Lord, family and those in the world, and a mind centered in The Word while giving and receiving love.

3. Afraid isn't really my word regarding insects for me, I'm more like 'disgusted' when they find me.

Stepping on them, hitting them with something or sucking them up in the vacuum is NO PROBLEM for me.

They must have some meaning, but I don't fear we'll ever be without them.

Silverfish and palmetto bugs gross me out THE MOST.

4. When we're barbecuing...90 percent of the time it will be pork ribs or chops.

Hubs has a 'beef allergy' so my days of t-bone steaks are reserved for days when I'm cooking or dining alone.

I especially LOVE charred pineapple slices, tomatoes, and asparagus grilled.

5. Playing vs. Winning is a wrong this or that in my mind...what motivation can be guided without a want of winning?

I was never a fan of giving EVERYONE on a team a trophy...a false sense of self esteem carries a lot of confusion later in life.

Isn't it as important to learn how to lose as it is to learn how to win?  And maybe even MOST important to learn to lose.  Life will NOT always be a WINNING outcome.

There are improper ways to celebrate each of these two instances.
Playing vs. Non-playing...playing is the way to go.
Winning vs. Losing...respectfully and humbly embraced, either way can endure the outcome and properly appreciate relationships over cut-throat competition.

6. A tan...something I've NEVER been capable of having on my own.
This should be on my bucket list...a REAL tan, on my peaches-n-cream skin, without my having to lather myself with half the bottle of spray-on protectant or spray-on tanner.

Pale is my skin's choice, not mine...the stuff that makes one tan is just NOT in me.  Therefore, this will be #2 after 'meany pause'.

Spray on tans aren't too bad, but I don't like their smell or to have to clean the shower once I've applied them...hahaha, my shower has a better tan than I do.

7. Five years ago I would never imagine that today I would...
...crave sitting next to my oscillating fan to endure my air conditioned home.

...be able to upload pictures via my cell phone.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I moved my bird feeder to a hanger that is secured to my large bay window...it's driving the squirrels crazy!!!  hahahahah, simple things that make a me laugh are VERY important these days

STRIPEMANIA...senior prom

Would you like to play Stripemania?

Wanting something new to do today during my blogging time, I ran across the above meme over at Holly's decor8...

it involves posting a picture of yourself in stripes on your blog

then Holly and her friend, Igor, are putting together a 'pinterest' board of the pics from all the bloggers...it is beginning to make a pretty neat collage.

The FIRST pic I found of myself in a striped shirt was from senior PROM evening 2010...babygirl's last high school prom.

She is standing beside me while I was using another girl's camera to catch a shot of her...the girl's mom held my camera for me and decided to get a shot of babygirl and me!  What a great time they had that night.

Come along with us...show us your stripes.

Genesis 30:37  "Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches."

SATURDAY CENTUS...dear meany

Jenny Matlock
So...Jenny has done some vicious word slashing this week. She's given us instruction to use only twenty-five words to express ourselves about the following prompt:

"The End"

So I will try to regale everyone with my writing...not gonna call it a skill yet.

Dear Meany Pause,
Invading our core without asking permission
Literally 'boiling' up massive contention
Continual rude demanding, immensely vain
Send now "the end!"
please NO MORE refrain.

FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL…

Photobucket
Linking up with Mamazrazzi for Friday Confessional...(and don't forget...if you go to the trouble of reading my blog, please leave me a message...i love to hear your thoughts.

I confess
I cringe when I see one of the new pudding commercials with “pudding face”…kinda funny but REALLY creepy! They remind me of ‘facelifts GONE BADLY, VERY BADLY.  What do you think when you see those type faces?

I confess
my concern wondering  'how much’  time was spent in the makeup chair to get this look?  Somehow this DOESN’T entice me to eat more pudding.  I know it's supposed to be funny but it looks so painful...I don't relate that to creamy, yummy pudding.

I confess
to being from the ‘"Bill’" era … sweet, simple advertising with a ‘real’ smile

I confess
scary faces are needed to enhance characters in a good movie role…like Batman.  Heath Ledger was such a handsome man and he did a great job in this role.

I confess
this face makes me FORGET about pudding altogether for some reason...God's hand is miraculous at providing simple pleasures in His people.

Job 22:26  "Surely then you will find delight in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God."

Come on over and join in on the ‘confessional’ fun Winking smile

ALPHABE-Thursday...my first time ;)

Jenny Matlock**UPDATE:  PRAYERS for those affected in the Mass. tornadoes in Springfield

Good morning class. Joining JENNY for the 1st time @ Alphabe-Thursday! Today she has us studying the glorious letter:

and of course, when I think G...
I think..... GOODWILL
giving to GOODWILL
buying from GOODWILL

It helps me clean out my home, gain some tax benefit and then find 'who knows what' at very reasonable prices (that will help the workers in the store).  This little chest used to have a Mama Duck followed by three ducklings walking across a blue background...but I saw it as the future home of my den throws.

Many of my thrifting finds have been from Goodwill as well as local thrift stores and antique shops.  Finding valuable things that I'm sure someone must have given away by mistake...like the china pieces and silver accessories.

Looking for those 'special' marks can be quite a challenge, they're sometimes in hidden places or under the tarnish...

sometimes I just HAVE to take a chance.
Blessings,

Jer. 33:3 "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
